Alain Bauza, M.D.
Dr. Bauzá is a New Jersey native, and completed his undergraduate education at Rutgers University where he received his Bachelors of Arts in Genetics (graduating Magna Cum Laude). He attended New Jersey Medical School for his medical degree and received several honors including the Ruy V. Lourenҫo, M.D. Dean’s Academic Achievement Award and Abdol H. Islami Foundation Scholarship. After graduation, Dr. Bauzá completed a Transitional Year Internship at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware where he served as the Internship Representative for the Resident Education Committee. Dr. Bauzá then braved harsh winters in Boston, Massachusetts to complete his ophthalmology residency training at Boston University Medical Center. Due to his outstanding performance, diligence, and hard work, Dr. Bauzá was nominated and served as Chief Resident for the department of Ophthalmology, a most distinguished honor.
Dr. Bauzá is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and Medical Society of New Jersey. He has a particular interest in cataract surgery, pterygium surgery, dry eye disease, macular degeneration and diabetic screening, and glaucoma management. Dr. Bauzá has received numerous honors including Castle Connolly Top Doctors Rising Star, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, Jersey’s Best Magazine Top Doctors, Top Doctors New York Metro Guide, and New York Magazine Top Doctors.
Dr. Bauzá is a first generation Cuban American and the first in his family to obtain a medical degree. Dr. Bauzá is fluent in both English and Spanish and looks forward to serving the needs of his patients in this capacity. In his free time, Dr. Bauzá enjoys cooking, spending time with his family, and learning new hobbies.
